Skydivers at Skydive Ft.Wayne are a close-knit mix of people from all walks
of life. At the DZ, accountants, mechanics, computer programmers, sales
people, steelworkers, electricians and anyone else imaginable mix and everyone
is a skydiver. We work hard to build a supportive environment where everyone
is given a warm welcome and we can all share our interest in and passion
for the sport. Often at other drop-zones, students and new skydivers can
feel neglected or left out of tight groups of experienced jumpers with little
time for the low-timers. Not at Skydive Ft.Wayne! Jumpers with little experience
often have the opportunity to jump with world-class skydivers, instructors
and jumpmasters. An inexperienced jumper spends time jumping with his or
her peers, but also often has the chance to jump with better jumpers. With
those opportunities comes the chance to learn from the experience of others.
The mix of people that jumps together at Skydive Ft. Wayne travels together, too. Every year, the drop-zone closes down twice, and most jumpers travel to the Bluffton (moving to Angola, IN in 2000) and Richmond boogies. The photo above and the one to the right are from the first Skydive Ft.Wayne 12-way weekend. A third 182 came online late in the 1999 season, and we began flying 3 plane formations. 12-way weekends ( and soon 20-way weekends) are a big draw at the dropzone. Everyone loves to come out, from first year jumpers to people with decades in the sport (including some who participated in the latest World Record skydive- a 246 way over Skydive Chicago) and thousands of jumps under their belts. The jump was great fun, and was just another demonstration of the unique bond of friendship and comraderie we have at Skydive Ft.Wayne. Whether you are curious about jumping and want to give it a try, or you are a jumper in the area looking for somewhere to jump, come on out this season and join us- everyone is welcome. |
