This is our main Cessna 182. The DZ owner, AJ Hudson, bought this plane and had it nearly totally rebuilt. It has a new interior, new prop blade, a new engine and all sorts of upgrades including a new set of Super-tips for the wings. This plane has a great climb rate and incredible low-speed stability. It's a great ride to altitude.
Most of the time, the Drop Zone operates two C-182s, and two plane
formation 8-ways are pretty common. In addition, AJ occasionally arranges
extra pilots and planes, and jumpers from all around the area get together
for 12-ways. These weekends are great for new jumpers and veterans alike.
With crowds of jumpers ranging from people who used to jump at New Horizons
(a defunct area dz) to people just starting this year, formation load weekends
provide plenty of opportunity for great jumps, learning experiences and
socializing. Stop on by and check it out.
Since we have a relatively short, grass runway, we can't get many of the bigger jump ships into the Drop Zone. However, as we expand, we would like to add more planes to the fleet- possibly even a turbine of some sort.
