Instructor Assisted Deployment (IAD)
This method allows you to jump solo from day 1!   The training class lasts approximately 3 hours.  During this class you will learn things such as basic safety, how to exit the plane, what body position to take during exit,  what a good parachute looks like,  how to steer and land your canopy.  This training includes watching video and also practical training on the ground.  You will take the class in the morning and make your skydive that same day.   As you make your skydive, your instructor will ride with you in the plane, direct you as you exit, and deploy open your parachute for you as you leave the plane.   You will have a radio attached to your equipment through which another instructor on the ground will assist you with canopy steering and landing instructions.

The IAD method is recommended for the independent person, or for anyone who wants to learn about the sport.  We also recommend this option to anyone who thinks they may want to continue in the sport.  After the 1st jump, you are allowed to progress at your own pace.

Skydive Ft. Wayne is a USPA group member and a USPA training center.  As such, we offer two methods by which you can make your first skydive.   Regardless of the method you choose, we treat you as if you will come back and want to continue learning about the sport.
